MORINAGA Yasuhiro has carried out field sound recordings throughout the world, creating works that explore and document the origin of musical instruments and song, as well as the soundscape of shamanistic rituals from perspectives of art and music anthropology. Morinaga’s works serve to encompass listeners and encourage awareness towards sounds that often tend to be unnoticed.
Major exhibitions include his live 3D sound concert for the silent film Setan Jawa directed by Indonesian film master Garin NUGROHO (Japan Foundation Asia Center, 2019), and "New Planet Photo City – William Klein and Photographers Living in the 22nd Century" [collaboration with Naoki Ishikawa] 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT (Tokyo, 2018).
