Saitama Art Center Project Information on the program contents in the first half of October
NEWS:Annex SightThe theme of Saitama Art Center Project is "Hymn to Everyday Life: Participate, Communicate, and Feel Art in Saitama" and it is a project to create habits for citizens and visitors to participate in art with artists related to Saitama according to their own lifestyle.

The Saitama Art Center Project has been running since August 2019 as a lead-in project for the Saitama International Art Festival 2020. It has been functioning as a place to explore and put into practice an art festival that is unique to Saitama. This lecture outlines the history of art festivals in Japan and abroad, starting with the Venice Biennale, the world's oldest and largest international art festival held since 1895, and organizes the purposes and roles of each. Then we will think about "Art Festival" while looking at the site of Saitama and exchanging opinions.

The Saitama International Art Festival 2020 faced a corona crisis. With no prospect of extending or reopening the festival, a group of supporter volunteers voluntarily developed the "Air Saitama International Art Festival" online from April 1 to May 17. We will share the motivation and ideas of the two supporters who led the initiative and consider how to create an art venue in the era of With Corona.

Satoshi Konishi (Junior High School Teacher, Faculty of Education, Saitama University)
Graduated from Musashino Art University, Department of Spatial Design, Fashion Design Course. After working as a teaching assistant and research assistant at the same laboratory, she worked for an apparel company. With the concept of art education that is open to the community, she exhibited her life and work at Starbucks Coffee stores (2011-2019). She has held the "Artwork and Art Lessons Exhibition 2018," "The Power to Protrude: Artwork and Art Lessons 2019," and "The Power to Protrude: Artwork and Art Lessons Vol. 2 - Artwork and Art Lessons Exhibition 2020" at the Urawa Art Museum.
Yu Shobuzawa (Assistant Professor, Department of Human Development, Faculty of Human Sciences, Bunkyo Gakuin University)
I teach and research the role of art in educational activities while teaching about modeling activities in childcare and education.
As a member of Saitama Muse Forum, I am in charge of selecting artists and coordinating workshops for art projects in the shopping district in Saitama City. He also practices and researches the development of workshops and educational activities at art museums.
Mayu Nakanishi (Executive Director, NPO Artists and Children)
Born in 1980 in Osaka, Japan. Studied photography at university and worked at an elementary school in Osaka City as a teacher from 2006 to 2008, and then studied abroad for a year and a half in the UK before joining the Institute in March 2011. As a workshop coordinator, she is in charge of projects at schools (including special-needs schools), orphanages, and residential facilities for children with disabilities.

This is a training course for staff members who will navigate the works of the Saitama International Art Festival 2020, which will be open to the public this fall.
We will share the key points for communicating artworks to visitors in an enjoyable and easy-to-understand manner.
Basically, you are required to attend all three lectures (Sept. 26, Oct. 3 and Oct. 10) (you may participate in one lecture at a time).
After attending the classes, you will be asked to navigate the festival as a work navigator at the site of the art festival for visitors.
This course is recommended for those who enjoy interacting with people through art and those who want to savor works of art through interaction with artists.

Takanori Niimura (violinist) was born in Saitama Prefecture. He was educated as a classical violinist from his childhood and gained experience in chamber music. He started to play improvisation and compose music after performing with contemporary dance. He has released three original CDs so far, including his latest, "Sanctuary".
