Beth STEPHENS&Annie SPRINKLE "How to be Better Lovers With the Earth:Ecosex Clinic", Saitama Triennale 2020 / Photo: NPO Invisible

Imagine.
What if the subject for your love and affection were the “earth?”
Through their work, artist unit Beth STEPHENS and Annie SPRINKLE widely explore the concept of humans as being a part of nature from the perspective of “Ecosex,” a neologism that they advocate in their practice. They continue to search for an ecological world that comes to emerge through engaging with the natural environment and nurturing love in their own human ways, and actively implement projects with a commitment to sustaining and passing on a rich global environment to the next generation.
People of various occupations and backgrounds who resonate with this idea assume the role of "counselors," inviting visitors to engage in a dialogue/consultation (counseling) with them over the course of Saitama Triennale. A participatory program is also held to think about and discuss the idea of “Ecosex,” which in itself is open definition and interpretation. This space is created by repurposing the furnishings and equipment that were used in the former Omiya ward office.
Welcome to a clinic that celebrates the earth as a nurturer of people, flowers, and all nature!
