SHINTSUBO Kenshu "Scenery of Going Back and Forth_Besshonuma Park", Saitama Triennale 2020 / Photo: MARUO Ryuichi

SHINTSUBO Kenshu is an artist working in photography, video, and field recording, while he also engages in numerous interdisciplinary projects involving such fields as architecture, electronic music, complex system science, and information design.
Assuming the role of cinematographer for a short movie to promote Saitama Triennale 2020-Art Sightama (directed by TOYAMA Shoji, director of this a rt festival), SHINTSUBO conducted research through all four seasons.
This work embodies the scenery that arose in the artist’s mind as he traveled to and from Saitama City throughout the year. It depicts things that are invisible, such as signs floating in places and memories accumulated through the unconscious activities of people. In the adjacent room, an installation transcending real time and space responds to the video, inviting viewers into a world between fiction and truth.
