Riki Takeda dressed as a "cafe clerk", A "textbook cafe" where you can freely read textbooks of Japanese elementary schools after the war, will be held at the Former Omiya Library.

Work summary

Postwar Japanese elementary school textbooks arranged in a library that has completed its role. These are what Takeda has widely called and collected. At the entrance of the cafe, the audience orders coffee and other drinks from a cafe clerk dressed as Takeda et al., And is given a free book by the clerk, who can freely browse the textbooks. A dialogue between the audience's words left in the free book and Takeda et al.'S "cafe clerk" creates a space to think widely about "what is education / learning.

Recruitment target

We will keep Japanese elementary school textbooks after the war. Can be returned. Donation to the artist (Riki Takeda) is also possible. We will respond according to your request. Age, region, grade, subject matter. Secondary readings are also possible. Writing and graffiti are also welcome. There is no limit on the number of books.

Accepted at the Saitama Triennale Executive Committee Secretariat.
Please mail (former payment) or bring it directly to the secretariat. (hours : Weekdays 8:30~17:15)

If the textbook has a name, all textbooks will be displayed on arrival with the name hidden behind a sticker. Upon arrival, all textbooks will be displayed with their names hidden by stickers.
